Dec-25-2012_Christmas Day

Last 2012 Srila Prabhupada Legacy Vault Update.

Camp Prabhupada Village: The Sun is again shining, lifting our spirits and the Roof! With the insulated reinforced concrete walls up and poured its time for the roof.

Concrete hose is positioned to pour the walls.

A dedicated concrete pump is called on the job
pumping two full concrete trucks loads into the walls.

The 8 feet high walls are poured in two stages.

It has become a dance of machine and man in
“Raising the Roof”. With little space to spare this
unique part of the vault encloses the space using
a MET-WOOD permanent steel frame to connect
to the concrete walls.

These reinforced beams are incredibly
strong and can easily hold many
thousands of pounds.

Top view between the garage ceiling and vault roof.
The slab is designed to be completely self-supporting
and using 5000 psi concrete resulting in a vault
with a heavy-duty industrial strength roof.

The metal roof sheets are carefully maneuvered in place.

The Mukunda crew are construction
professionals in every respect and know
exactly what they're doing.

First set of metal roof sheets are in place.

All metal roof sheets are in their proper position.

A view from the rough door opening.

The door frame is about ready for the next phase:
installing the heavy-duty fire-proof security door.

The roof slab and hopefully the floor will
be poured just before the end of 2012.

With a short break now over the Christmas period we have time to reflect on all the planning, preparations, anticipations, culminating in a tangible structure taking shape before us. It is also a time to sincerely thank our generous donors again who so kindly donated to this project. Without your help none of this would be possible.

Dec-22-2012, Srila Prabhupada Legacy Vault Update

Camp Prabhupada Village;

The cool crisp mornings over the past week have only been broken by the sound of progress.

We must say the work crew headed up by Mukunda Prabhu are very professional, respectful and a pleasure to have around and seem to share the same excitement we have to see the project complete.

The large footings are poured using 3000 psi concrete strength to firmly anchor the structure from the rare event of a Hurricane or Tornado ever passing this way.

Now we have moved onto the walls with ICF brand: Arxx Steel, and concrete with an overall thickness of 13 inches and concrete strength of 5000 psi to give strength and resist moisture.

Rebar being prepped for the walls

We can now see the size and shape of the vault and
it feels like major progress has been made

The main and only entry has been framed in
The walls [8"] and door frame [13"]
are now ready to be poured.

Stay tuned for the next update this week when the unique roof should start taking shape.

Dec-12-2012, Srila Prabhupada Legacy Vault Update

With winter taking hold accompanied by a light drizzle to extract the last remaining colors of the fall leaves we bring you this update from Camp Bhaktivedanta Archives. The quiet sleepy hollow of Prabhupada Village will for the next few weeks resonate with the sounds of construction in the service of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada!

By the blessings and financial help from Vaisnavas all around the world, the long awaited new vault construction has started and is well on its way!!!
“All systems are go” and the excitement here is palpable.

Vapor/dust barrier put in place.

Demolition of old climate-controlled room begins.

Demolition in progress.

Backhoe ripping out the floor.

Pre-cut concrete slabs being removed.
Ceiling was repaired beforehand.

The 24 x 24 inch footer with re-bar in place.

It took two trucks to fill the
massive footer
with concrete

First set of wall-forms put in place.

The actual thickness of the concrete wall will
be 8" plus 2.5" of insulation on either end
and fireproof boards in addition.

Over the last 28 years, I have had the great fortune to develop a wide array of both hard and soft skills. From planning, organizing, directing and realizing construction projects, to assisting individuals achieve a more fulfilling and balanced life through life coaching and leadership training.

I started in construction in 1988 while a full time resident of the Montreal Hare Krishna Temple.  Construction has been my livelihood since 1989. Since then, I have been involved in a broad variety of construction projects: from completely rebuilding pre-American-Civil-War plantation homes, to contracting modern 3-story highly energy-efficient residences, to constructing a timber frame structure using almost exclusively non-electric tools, etc.

While living for 9 years in Prabhupada Village, Sandy Ridge, North Carolina, I obtained a State contractor’s license and built about a dozen homes, specializing in Insulating Concrete Forms (ICF’s), the medium we will use to build Srila Prabhupada’s vault. It is during that period that I have met and successfully completed many projects with Barry Moxley, from Moxley Construction, Inc., with whom I will partner on this vault project.

Today, I own a small volume, hands-on, high quality construction company specializing in low maintenance, energy-efficient construction. I work in the residential, institutional and light commercial markets.

In the last 2 years, I have developed an interest in natural building techniques, hoping to use a combination of some of such techniques in developing a devotional Eco-village project.

In the last 3 years, I have trained for, and completed 3 full marathons (26.2 miles or 42.2 KM), including, in 2011, the highly revered Boston marathon.

Some additional abilities I have developed over the years are a capacity to communicate clearly in high stress situations, being teamwork-oriented as well as adapting smoothly to changing conditions.

Compassionate yet authentic communication are my trademarks, I’m a personal development coach and an enthusiastic speaker. I love to assist people resolve conflicts and work together. I have recently embarked on a 2 year training on Conflict Resolution and Consensus Building.

I’m a Canadian citizen. I live in Florida with my wife, Bhakti-lata, my 2 daughters, Manjari & Ulupi, and their family.

Thank you for your time.
